Privacy Policy

This policy explains what QuickTools (myquicktools.io) collects, what it does not collect, who else is involved, and what you can do about it. It covers every page on this site.

QuickTools is owned and operated by Eruck Technologies Inc., a technology company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Eruck Technologies Inc.is the organisation accountable for the personal information described here — the data controller, in the language of the GDPR, and the organisation responsible under Canada’s PIPEDA. The short version

The files you process with our tools — your images, PDFs and text — are handled entirely inside your own browser. They are never uploaded to us, so we never see them, store them or share them. We have no user accounts and no user database. We do use Google Analytics to count visits and see which tools get used, and we show advertising — both of which set cookies. We also keep our own count of page views and tool uses, which sets no cookie and records nothing about you. None of the three ever receives the contents of what you process.

Files you process

Tools marked as running in your browser do exactly that: your file is read by JavaScript running on your device, processed there, and written back to a download. No copy is transmitted to us or to anyone else. Closing the tab discards everything — there is no server-side copy to delete, because one was never made. You can disconnect from the internet after a tool page has loaded and it will still work, which is the simplest way to verify this claim for yourself.

A small number of jobs cannot be done in a browser at all — compressing a PDF, for instance, means re-encoding the images inside it, which needs a real codec. Those tools are marked on the page itself, above the tool, in a notice you cannot miss. Your file is sent to us, processed in memory, and discarded the moment your download is ready. It is never written to disk, never included in a backup, never read by a person, and never used to train anything. Nothing about it is retained once the response is sent.

One tool currently works this way: Compress PDF. Every other tool on the site runs entirely in your browser. This list is generated from the tool registry rather than typed by hand, so it cannot fall out of date.

What we actually collect

  • Aggregate page views. Which pages are visited, how often, roughly where in the world from (country level), what kind of device, and which site referred you. This is counted without cookies and without any identifier that persists across days, so it cannot be tied back to you.
  • Standard server logs. Our web server records requests, including IP address, in the ordinary course of serving pages. These are kept for a short period for security and debugging and are not used to build any profile.
  • Anything you choose to email us. If you write to us, we have your message and your address until the matter is closed.

We do not ask for your name, your email, or any account details to use a tool. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the advertising partners described below, who receive it directly from your browser rather than from us.

Cookies and similar technologies

QuickTools sets no login cookies and has no accounts, so nothing here identifies you by name. Cookies on this site come from two Google services: analytics and advertising.

  • Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and_ga_<id>. They hold a randomly generated number that lets Google tell one browser from another, so that two page views in a row can be counted as one visit rather than two visitors. They expire after two years, and they are read only on this site.

Cookies also come from our advertising partners. Specifically:

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads here and may likewise use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure performance and, where permitted, to personalise what you see.

You can control this in several ways:

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before any advertising or measurement cookie is set. Your choices are recorded and passed to our advertising partners under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. You can reopen that dialog and change or withdraw your consent at any time from the privacy link shown by the consent banner. Withdrawing consent does not remove the ads; it means you see non-personalised ones.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which tools people actually use — which is how we decide what to build next and what to fix. It records the page you are on, roughly where in the world you are, and whether a tool was run; it does not receive anything you type, upload or convert.

It is not anonymous in the strict sense, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Google Analytics sets a cookie holding a random identifier, so repeat visits from the same browser can be recognised as the same browser. Google is also an advertising company, and depending on your Google account settings it may associate this data with the advertising profile it already holds for you. We do not upload anything to Google that could identify you, and we cannot look you up individually in the reports — but the honest description is “standard third-party analytics”, not “privacy-friendly and cookie-free”, which is what this page used to claim before we adopted it.

To opt out: Google publishes a browser add-on that disables Analytics on every site, and any browser set to block third-party or all cookies will stop it here. Blocking it changes nothing about the tools — they run on your device either way.

We also keep our own counters, on our own server, because most visitors block Google Analytics and we would otherwise be deciding what to build from a badly-skewed sample. These are counters in the literal sense: a number per day, per page, per tool. When you open a page, your browser sends us the path you are on, whether this is the first page of the session, and — for the first page only — the domain that linked you, if your browser volunteered it. When you use a tool, it sends the tool’s name and one of three words: run, download or copy.

What that means in practice: no cookie is set, nothing is stored in your browser beyond a flag that is discarded when the tab closes, no identifier of any kind is created, and your IP address is never written down — it is used for a few milliseconds to enforce a rate limit, in hashed form, and is not part of what is saved. The stored record for a day looks like “/word-counter: 412 views, 190 visits”. There is no row for a person, so there is nothing here we could look up about you, hand over, or sell, and nothing to export or delete on request because nothing is linked to you in the first place.

Affiliate links

Some pages, particularly the financial calculators, contain affiliate links. If you follow one and sign up for a product, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are labelled where they appear. They never affect the result a calculator produces, and we do not receive any personal information back from the merchant about what you did after clicking.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, there is in practice nothing held about a child to delete — but if you believe otherwise, write to us and we will investigate.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data held about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. In practice we hold very little — there are no accounts and no user database — so most requests are answered quickly.

  • Canada (PIPEDA, and Quebec’s Law 25). You may ask what personal information we hold, ask for it to be corrected, and withdraw consent for its use. Quebec residents additionally have rights to de-indexing and to data portability.
  • EEA and UK (GDPR). Our lawful bases are consent for advertising and measurement cookies, and legitimate interest for keeping the site secure and working. You may also lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising on our own account. Advertising partners acting through this site have their own disclosures, linked above.

Where the site runs

QuickTools is operated by Eruck Technologies Inc. from Toronto, Ontario, and hosted on servers in Canada. Because advertising and analytics are served by Google, information your browser sends to Google may be processed in the United States and elsewhere under Google’s own safeguards.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how advertising works, surface it through the consent dialog. The current version always lives at this URL.
