Should I choose A4, Letter or fit-to-image?
Pick the size the recipient will print on: US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) in Canada and the United States, A4 (210 × 297 mm) almost everywhere else. A Letter document printed on A4 gets shrunk slightly, and vice versa. Choose fit-to-image for screenshots and artwork destined for a screen — each page becomes exactly the image size with no scaling or borders.
Will my images be cropped or stretched?
Neither. With a fixed page size each image is scaled to fit inside the margins with its aspect ratio preserved, then centred. A portrait photo on a Letter page leaves space at the sides; a landscape one leaves space above and below. Nothing is ever cropped or distorted.
Why is the resulting PDF so large?
JPEG and PNG are embedded directly with no re-encoding, so a PDF of ten photos is roughly the size of those ten photos. WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP have to be converted to PNG first because the PDF format cannot embed them, and PNG compresses photographs poorly, which can make the file much bigger. Compressing the images first typically cuts the PDF by 80% or more.
What order will the pages be in?
The order shown in the list, which you can change with the arrows. Worth checking after a bulk selection: operating systems sort filenames as text rather than as numbers, so IMG_10.jpg sorts before IMG_2.jpg. Renaming with zero-padded numbers before you start avoids the problem entirely.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using your own device's processor, so your documents never travel over the network. That matters for contracts, statements, medical records and tax filings — the documents people most often need to edit are exactly the ones you should not hand to an unfamiliar server. There is no upload wait, no size cap, and nothing for us to store or leak.

Why send a PDF instead of images
Because a PDF is one file, in a fixed order, that opens identically everywhere. Sending eight photos of a signed contract as eight attachments invites them to arrive out of order, get separated, or be opened in something that rotates them. A PDF arrives as a document. Most institutions that accept scanned paperwork — banks, insurers, immigration offices, universities — require one.
Page size: fit, A4 or Letter
- Fit to imagemakes each page exactly the image’s dimensions. Nothing is scaled and there are no borders — right for screenshots, artwork and anything destined for a screen rather than a printer. Pages may be different sizes.
- A4 (210 × 297 mm) is the standard everywhere except North America.
- US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) is the standard in Canada and the United States, and it is what your local printer expects.

Order and margins
Pages follow the order shown in the list, and the arrows move them. Worth checking: selecting multiple files at once gives you the operating system’s alphabetical order, which puts IMG_10 before IMG_2.
The margin is in points, at 72 to the inch — so 36 is half an inch and 72 is a full inch. Half an inch is a safe default for home printers, most of which cannot print to the edge of the paper. Set it to 0 with “fit to image” for a borderless result.
Formats and file size
JPEG and PNG are embedded directly with no re-encoding, so quality is exactly preserved. WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP are converted to PNG first, because the PDF format cannot embed them — this is lossless but can make the file noticeably larger, since PNG does not compress photographs well.
That is the main reason an images-to-PDF file comes out big. If size matters, run the photos through the image compressor first — a JPEG at quality 75 embeds directly and can cut the resulting PDF by 80% or more with no visible difference.
Nothing is uploaded
The whole operation runs in your browser using your own device’s processor. The documents people most often need to edit — contracts, bank statements, medical records, tax packages — are exactly the ones you should not hand to an unfamiliar server. There is no upload wait, no size ceiling imposed by a free tier, and nothing left in a temporary directory afterwards. Disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
